The MILESTONE method of payment is the safest, easiest way to complete your web site design. It protects both the designer, and the client. It works like this:
You relay your needs to the designer who then puts together a quote based on your needs. For simplicity sake, lets say your site contains the basics: a HOME page, ABOUT US page, CONTACT page, and three main pages. Each of the three pages has a secondary page, and the contact page has a LINKS page. All total, you are looking at about 10 pages. Your quote will include the price to design 10 pages, the web site name purchase, the year of hosting, and the program purchase.
You then take this total, and divide it by the number of weeks you both agree upon. Let’s say your quote came to $1,200.00, and you agreed to six weeks. Total cost, divided by six weeks = a weekly payment of $200.00. Your project would be divided up into six parts, and each week, a payment is made based on completed work.
Your web site progress will be uploaded to my web site in a folder. You simply come back to this site, type in the name of your folder:

to view exactly what is being done at all times.
We keep in touch via phone, email, and Instant messaging to gauge progress. The contract that is signed includes work and payment dates. Proofs are usually sent on Fridays. By Monday payment is expected. That leaves 48 hours to look over work completed. If everything is fine, payment can be rendered via paypal or other agreed upon method. If you are not happy with what you see, don’t make the payment!
This mode of operation ensures that the designer is not being left without payment on a complete site, and the client has not paid for something they are not happy with. It’s a WIN - WIN situation for both!
